Political Resources

As vibrant, vocal members of our community, we keep current on legislation, at the local, state and national levels.

Victory! Proposed Amendments 5, 7 & 9 are removed from the November ballot!

That leaves us to focus our energies on Amendment 2.

Amendment 2: This bill affects unmarried couples living together, regardless of sexual orientation, by changing the legal definition of marriage. Thousands of people stand to lose health benefits if this measure is passed.

Be an Atheist Activist in 30 Minutes A Week

VJACK at The Atheist Revolution offers some fantastic, simple tips on how you can be active and make your voice heard in his article "Be an Atheist Active in 30 Minutes a Week".

Some of his suggestions include:

Vote up good atheist-related material on Digg, Reddit, and/or StumbleUpon. This helps others find it.

Take action on relevant action alerts you receive. This is typically as simply as making a phone call, signing an on-line petition, or sending a letter to an elected official.

Write letters to the editor of your local newspaper. See below.

Learn who your elected officials are, how they vote on issues of importance to atheists, and how to contact them.

Give blood. (Wearing a FLASH shirt might even provoke some conversation!)

Contact the media

The official web page of the United States Congress has a handy media guide. It's searchable by zip code; editor, reporter or producer name; organization name; and by clicking on an interactive map.
